Today was the first day, and hopefully the most boring of our adventure. We left home about 9:30 this morning and drove to Jacksonville. From there, we flew to DC and checked in to the Embassy Suites, which, bizarrely, has two swans in the lobby.
Definitely the highlight of today was getting to meet “The Other Kristen Watkins.” What are the chances that of all people adopting kids from Africa there would even be two people with the same name, let alone working with the same agency and then flying on the same plane to Ethiopia? What a great coincidence, though. They are headed back to Ethiopia for their second trip, and will bring their beautiful daughter home with them. Look out, America…this little girl has the most beautiful smile ever!
I really can’t imagine going through this adoption journey without the Internet. I’ve “met” so many great people and been supported and encouraged by people who understand what we’re going through. It really is amazing when you think about it, that we have all been able to connect and share.

Can’t wait to hear the next part of the story. I completely agree with you about going through an adoption without the internet. If it were not for the support of other APs/PAPs, I don’t think I’d even be able to leave my bed these days.

So great to see a photo of both of you. Looking forward to following the rest of your journey!

Blog friends are THE BEST. I have no idea what people going through the adoption process did before the internet. Seriously, no idea. Without blogs and the email groups, I would be lost. So glad you got to meet and travel together!
